At SkateHut, we've been offering Heelys for more than a decade. A frequent inquiry we receive is,how can I replace the wheels on my Heelys? This guide will walk you through the process with ease!
Authentic Heelys
*Crucial information- Each pair of Heelys includes a smaller wheel and a slightly larger one that fit into the slots in the sole. Before you insert your wheels, check the letters engraved on the side of the wheels that match the lettering at the bottom of the wheel.
Step 1 - Detaching the cover
The initial step in wheel installation is to flip the shoe so the wheel hub cover is visible. You’ll observe an indentation on one side. Insert the Heelys tool into this indentation on the cover. Use the tool to lift the cover away from the shoe, ensuring you store it safely.
Step 2 - Fitting the wheel
Now, take the Heelys wheel and align the two axles on either side with the wheel hub in the shoe, pressing the wheel into the hub using the flat of your hand. With gentle pressure, you should hear each axle click into place, allowing the wheel to spin freely. Repeat these two steps for the other shoe.
Step 3 - Reversing the process/ Removing the wheel
To convert the Heelys back to regular shoes, use the Heelys tool to hook the side of the wheel and under the axle. A gentle pull will dislodge the axle, enabling the wheel to be taken out. Then, fit the hub cover back in place, applying pressure at each corner to ensure it sits evenly, and they're ready to be worn as shoes again.
Heelys Pop
The newest Heelys model features the pop mechanism, allowing the wheel to extend and retract with a button press at the heel. Here's how to extend and retract the wheels on Heelys Pop.
Step 1
Typically, the wheel starts in the retracted position. To deploy it, press the button flush at the back of the shoe near the heel. Once pressed, the wheel will pop out, ready for action.
Step 2
To retract the wheel back into the hub, have the user lift their heel so the button at the heel's rear can be easily pressed. With some gentle pressure, the wheel can be pushed back into the hub, which is spring-loaded. Once the wheel is flush with the shoe's sole, release the button to prepare the spring for the next use.
With a bit of practice, this procedure for both Heelys and Heelys Pop can be completed in just a few minutes. We hope our guide aids you in becoming the Heelys Pit Stop expert for your household.
