Reckless Morph Wheels- Review by Illbilly

Reckless's latest Morph Wheels have been generating buzz with their Dual Durometer design, which expertly balances speed and grip. Say goodbye to constantly switching out wheels or relying on different setups for pushing!

We spoke with Illbilly, a skater from Southern Discomfort Roller Derby and Head Coach for the Central City Rollergirls, as well as a Sponsored Skater for Reckless Wheels, to get his thoughts on the Morphs. Make sure to check out the awesome video too!

Which wheels have you previously tried?

Over the years, I've used a variety of wheels including Heartless, Reckless, and several other brands. Before my sponsorship, I experienced many different types such as quad, inline, and skateboard wheels.

What do you prioritize in a wheel?

Above everything, I prioritize reliability and quality. I've encountered wheels that wore out too quickly, chipped, or lost chunks. Some lost grip or wore unevenly, creating flat spots that impacted my skating. A wheel should be engineered to endure the demands of high-level roller sports while delivering maximum responsiveness where it's needed. With the Morph, I get all of that and more!

How do you find the Morph?

They are currently my top pick. Transitioning from my Reckless Evader setup, I was skeptical it could be surpassed, but the Morph Wheel's extensive development has resulted in unmatched quality, design, and responsiveness. Opting for the duro on the inside edge gives you that wheel's feel with additional bite when edging. I use mine frequently and can attest to the speed, response, and grip of the Morph's compound.

How has the Morph influenced your skating?

Realistically, it might enhance my skating, but it certainly provides an extra edge I didn't have before. Previously, using my 91a and 93a all-around setup felt great, but switching to the 93a/88a Morph Wheel setup I use now, I truly appreciate the extra grip when making sharp cuts and jukes, while still feeling like I'm on a harder wheel. As GRN MNSTR mentioned, you won't need to worry about changing your wheels.

What would you advise someone undecided?

It's often said a poor worker blames their tools, but if you're seeking a smarter, more responsive wheel, consider getting some Reckless Morph Wheels.
