The Impact of the 2024 Olympics on Skateboarding

Paris 2024 was the second occasion where skateboarding appeared as a competitive event in the Olympics, showcasing its demanding nature and high skill requirements. This development followed the proposal for inclusion in September 2015, with skateboarding joining the shortlist alongside softball, karate, and surfing. The primary concern regarding skateboarding as an event centered around the types of injuries athletes might sustain during their performances. Nonetheless, the sport was accepted as an official event for the 2020 games in Japan, leading to increased popularity and visibility.

Since the last two games, the sport has truly highlighted the capabilities of skateboarders worldwide, with significant attention on American skaters, but also demonstrating the prowess from Japan, Australia, and Brazil. And certainly, we must recognize our own local talent, representing TeamGB, who secured a second bronze in Paris 2024, reaffirming Britain's role in the skateboarding culture and community, something we at SkateHut have always known!

Following the latest skateboarding competitions, the medal count is becoming quite impressive, with 24 medals claimed so far. Australia has been excelling in the park events, securing 3 golds overall, whereas Japan leads in the street events, capturing 4 golds.
